We had exactly the same on our 4500DT PS. We has about a 2 minute delay of all print jobs from all 6 of out XP - and also an old WIN98. It started maybe 3 weeks ago - no apparent cause.

Under the Printer's Properties/Port/Configure Ports... I changed from Raw to LPR protocol and entered lp as queue name on each XP machine and the delay has gone!</description>
