Dear Microsoft,

It's called Windows. Note the s at the end, which signifies plurality.
Screwing us down to one window is not what Windows (again, note the s) users
want. I.E. tabs are stupid for the same reason. I paid for Windows, plural,
and I want windows, plural, in Excel!

Just to be clear:
1. Multiple workbooks in a single Excel window will not do; that is still 1
window
2. Multiple Taskbar buttons (1 per each multiple workbook in a single Excel
window) will not do; that is still 1 window

Sick and tired of being screwed down,
Lee

I just installed Office 2007 Ultimate with the specific hopes of finding an SDI mode in Excel. Damnit all.

Yeah. This has been a longstanding gripe and I find unfathamable that it isn't addressed in Office 2007.

Not only is it frustratingly unintuitive, it's a serious productivity killer. For instance, opening up new documents in Excel is impossible while a dialog is open or it's otherwise busy (such as running a time-consuming macro). We have Excel macros that pour through a spreadsheet and lookup things in a database that may take 20 minutes.... my users complain that Excel (all their open documents) are innaccessible during this time!!!

I really wish all Office apps (including Word) implemented a Tabbed document Interface (like Access 2007 seems to have and FrontPage has today). But, I'd settle for all of them to have Word's True-SDI.
